For many manufacturers and distributors, IP is the backbone of their business and they will have valuable assets in their trade marks, patents, copyright or designs (IP) which need to be protected. These IP rights enable manufacturers the opportunity to make a financial return on what they create. Businesses who engage in research and development (R&D) to create IP and new knowledge may also be eligible to claim a tax offset under the R&D tax incentive.
